A Legacy of Compassion & Service
Kitovu Mobile (KM) is a not-for-profit, faith-based organization under the Diocese of Masaka, Uganda. It was founded by the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM) in 1987 as a response to the HIV and AIDS crisis in the then Masaka and Rakai Districts.
Registered in 2013 as a company limited by guarantee under the names of Kitovu Mobile Limited, KM has transformed from a single Home-Based Care project into a multi-project organization empowering marginalized families and communities.

Sr. Ursula Sharpe
A nun with the Medical Missionaries of Mary, founded Kitovu Mobile in 1987 in response to the HIV/AIDS crisis in Greater Masaka especially Rakai and Kyotera, Uganda.
Initially treating patients at Kitovu Hospital health center in Masaka, she expanded her reach by training local healthcare workers and establishing a MOBILE treatment program to deliver care to rural villages, hence the name KITOVU MOBILE.
Witnessing the struggles of orphans affected by HIV/AIDS, Sr. Ursula also initiated an Orphan Program providing holistic support, including education, grief counseling, and economic empowerment.

Over 35 Years of Impact
- • Home-Based Care (HBC) program established with 111 outreach centres
- • 5,500 clients received counselling, HIV Testing, medical and social support
- • Education and socioeconomic support program supported 8,000 orphans
- • Mobile Farm Schools program initiated in 1998
- • Palliative care services introduced in 2000
- • Over 7,500 families and clients with terminal illnesses benefited
- • Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) services provided to 1,500 PLHIV
- • KM Health Centre III established
- • HIV/AIDS, TB, Palliative care and general health care services expanded
- • 5-year Mobile Farms schools project with Kindernothilfe (KNH)
- • COVID-19 vaccination grant implemented
- • 4-year BMZ project with Grandmothers Consortium
- • CDC DREAMS projects for Adolescent Girls and Young Women
